Human Centered Design is an elective course offered by the Computer Science Department at Allegheny College. It was offered for the first time during the fall 2010 semester by Prof. Matt Jadud, and the intrepid band of students you see contributing here are the people who will make it rock.

Why not learn a bit more about the course, our projects, and the people involved?

Fedora Website Redesign Testing

Our first project is a rapid-fire introduction to interface design and testing. Even though we don't know what we're doing, we're going to try and learn enough quickly to be of use to the Fedora Design team as they rework their web presence. This requires you to take a very active role in researching and reading about UI testing and design.

Open Source Design Project (OSDP)

We've had one design/test experience, and now we're going to work through the process more systematically.

Teams

We are working with three open source communities this semester. Each project has its own space on the wiki.

Project Sequence

Each project will work through the following steps, ultimately yielding a deliverable back to the open source community.

  1. /Project Proposal
  2. /Needs Analysis
  3. /Design Development
  4. /Design Refinement
  5. /Heuristic Evaluation
  6. /Final Refinement
  7. /Evaluation
